How paying works
When you pay, your money goes to BuildLink, not to the seller, and we hold it until your order arrives. This page shows every step from pressing Pay to the seller getting paid.
The short version
1. You pay
By card or bank transfer, on Paystack’s secure page.
2. BuildLink holds it
Your money sits with us, not with the seller, while the order is on its way.
3. The seller is paid
Only after you confirm delivery with your code and the protection window has passed.
If it never arrives, the money comes back to you. It was never the seller’s to keep, so you do not have to chase anyone for it.
Step by step
Step 1: Check the total before you pay
The cart and the checkout show the price of each item, each seller’s delivery fee and delivery window, and one total. That total is what you pay. Nothing is added after the last screen.
- Prices are in naira and include VAT where it applies.
- A basket from three sellers is still one payment, with a delivery fee for each seller.
Step 2: Pay on Paystack’s secure page
Place your order, then press Pay on your order page. You are taken to Paystack’s own page to pay by card or bank transfer. Your items are held for you while you pay, and the countdown on your order page shows how long you have.
- You type your card details into Paystack’s page. They never reach this site.
- Your order is marked paid only when Paystack confirms the payment to us directly.
Step 3: Your money goes into the hold
Your payment sits with BuildLink, not with the seller. The seller sees your order and starts preparing it, but receives nothing yet.
- Until the seller is paid, your money can still be refunded to you.
Step 4: The seller dispatches
Each seller sends their part of your order, and you can follow every parcel from your account. Until the seller dispatches, you can cancel and get a full refund.
Step 5: Give your delivery code at the door
Your order page shows a six-character delivery code. Give it to the person who brings your parcel, and only once it is in your hands. The seller enters the code to close the delivery. Nobody can mark your order delivered without it.
- Check the goods before you give the code.
- Read it to the wrong person? Get a new code from the same page, and the old one stops working.
Step 6: The seller is paid
After delivery, the money stays in the hold for a protection window. You have seven days to report anything wrong, missing or damaged. After that, the seller’s share is released and paid into their verified business bank account.
- Our commission comes out of the seller’s share. It is never added to your total.
If something goes wrong
You cancel before dispatch
Until the seller sends your order, you can cancel it and get a full refund.
The seller cannot fill it
If your order is declined after you pay, because it is out of stock or the seller cannot reach your address, you get a full refund with nothing deducted.
It never arrives
If your order is never delivered, the money comes back to you from the hold. You do not have to chase the seller for it.
It arrives wrong, short or damaged
Tell us within seven days of delivery and send photographs if you can. We arrange the return and the refund.
Refunds go back to the card or account you paid with. We send them as soon as they are approved. How quickly the money reaches you after that depends on your bank. Some goods cannot be returned once delivered unless they are faulty. Read the returns policy.
Common questions
My bank transfer has not shown up yet
Transfers can take a little while to arrive. Until Paystack confirms the money, your order page says we are still checking. Nothing is lost while you wait.
My card was declined
You were not charged. While the countdown is still running, you can try again from your order page with the same card or another one.
The countdown ran out before my payment went through
When time runs out, your items go back on sale. If your money still arrives and everything is in stock, we place the order again for you at the original prices. If it is not in stock, you get a refund. You are never charged twice.
I sent the wrong amount
If you sent less than the total, your order waits for the rest. The money you sent stays on the order, and your order page shows the balance left to pay. If you sent more, the order goes ahead and we owe you the difference.
Do I pay a fee for paying online?
No. The total at checkout is the total you pay, with no service charge or handling fee. Our commission comes out of the seller’s share.
Can the seller see my card details?
No. Your card details go into Paystack’s page and never reach this site. The seller gets only what they need to deliver: your name, address, phone number and their part of your order.
Never pay a seller directly
The hold only protects money paid through the checkout on this site. If a seller asks you to pay them another way, such as a transfer to their own account or cash, you lose that protection. Do not pay, and tell us so we can deal with the seller’s account.
Ready to order?
Every order on BuildLink is paid through the checkout and held until it arrives.
